I drew this as a parody of our society’s mass consumerism. This is what I wrote in the background of the picture:
“Introducing our new perfume, ‘Impression of Perfection’ by Breaking Sanity! Thousands of women say they love it, claiming that before they were disgusting, ugly monsters with severe depression. Without ‘Impression of Perfection’ they couldn’t meet their own unbelievably high standards and would feel embarrassed and shamed in public, even though 90% of the time most people don’t care. They aren’t even bothered so long as you try to dress yourself properly, you smell ok and you act like a normal, decent person. Surely such an insecure person as yourself can’t see how this product is a giant waste of money, so we’ll give you a sale. If you buy now, we’ll throw in our bullshit makeup kit with our con-up remover wipes, all for just one purchase of many to come! That’s a total zero-dollar value! An utter liability that takes money and resources straight out of your purses! WOW!!! Order now, like RIGHT NOW, you have ten seconds before the sale is over, quickly! TEN! NINE! EIGHT! SEVEN! SIX! FIVE! FOUR! THREE! TWO! ONE! ZERO!!! If you missed the sale, that’s ok, we’re going to continue to push our products onto you anyway because we need you to pay for our bills. As we do that, remember to keep on those glamorous rose-tinted sunglasses on.”
Extreme consumerism is a concern to the mental and spiritual wellbeing of our society that promotes materialism without proper moderation. Do not feel like your value is tied to what you own, you are much more than that!
